Create a frame to showcase your photos or a special piece of art. It will be naturally beautiful.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Paint your canvas and allow it to dry. I dry brushed mine with a very light coat of paint. The paint barely shows through the sticks.

STEP 2:

Cut a photo mat 8 x 10 from a piece of recycled cardboard. I used an old shipping box. Cover the 8 x 10 mat with fabric. Place a copy of your photo in the center of the mat. Don’t use an original photo because the fabric isn’t acid free. Always take the time to get a quick copy made.

STEP 3:

Cut a second photo mat 5 x 7 ½. Cut a 3 ½ x 5 ½ opening in this mat so the photo can show through it. Cove the mat with a different fabric. Wrap this mat with some twine and glue in a few sticks, acorns, and leaves. Secure mat in place

STEP 4:

Cut and arrange sticks and twigs on canvas. You can create numerous patterns with a variety of supplies from your own neighborhood. I used garden shears to cut my sticks. I didn’t want to ruin my craft scissors.

STEP 5:

Place on an easel and enjoy the fruits of our earth.

Something to consider is making this project a family project. My children and I picked up the sticks on our nightly walk. All the acorns came from my mom’s home. This made my frame more personal and special to me
