Even though I have barely dipped my feet in the waters of digital scrapbooking, I use my computer for almost every layout that I create. I may use it for my journaling, I may surf the web for inspiration; mostly I use it to make custom titles. I love that I can choose any font that I have saved, and can resize it to fit my needs perfectly! By following these simple steps, you can create your own custom scrapbook page titles too!
- Begin with a new document in Microsoft Word.
- Click INSERT - PICTURE - WORD ART. This will bring up the WordArt Gallery; select the outline style, and click OK.
- Select font and type your title or phrase. Click OK.
- Your title or phrase will post to your open document. Highlight your type, and resize to your needs. Use the rulers at the top and left as guides.
- You will want to print in reverse on the back side of your patterned paper or cardstock, which will hide the lines after you have your type cut out. To “flip” your type, select DRAW – FLIP - HORIZONTAL.
- You are ready to print! Insert your paper into your printer so that it prints on the back side.

Cutting out your printed title is easy if you have the right tools! I used the Cutter Bee Retractable Knife and Pink Self-Healing Mat to cut out my titles; using a Glass Mat is another option. Make sure your blades are sharp! Small, sharp, precision tip Cutter Bee Scissors may also come in handy.
When cutting out script fonts, I like to cut out the entire word as one piece; this makes it easy to move around your page to find the perfect placement.

You can find many fonts on the web by searching “free fonts”. Your options are endless! Give custom hand cut scrapbook page titles a try, and be sure to post your results in the gallery!
