A Spotted Canary Project by djk2768

13 April 2009

Use a laminate to turn a small painted design into a mouse pad.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Once you finish your paint by number let it dry completely. You can then use your picture or make a copy of it. We took our design, scanned it into a computer and printed out a section of the picture. You can also take your picture to a copy store and have a copy made.

STEP 2:

We cut our picture into 2" X 2" squares using a ruler and a sharp craft knife.

STEP 3:

Arrange your picture squares in a mosaic pattern on your crafting foam so that it is pleasing to you visually. You can use a ruler to make sure your squares are straight and evenly placed. We left a boarder of foam around the outside so we could decorate it later.

STEP 4:

Once your pieces are secure brush a light coat of Modge Podge® to secure in place. If you have a sticker making machine, you can run your squares through that instead of using decoupage glue.

STEP 5:

With your needle, poke holes in the border.

STEP 6:

Thread your needle with twine and create a border with it through the holes.

STEP 7:

When you are sure you have everything just the way you want it, bush your entire top with several coats of decoupage glue.

STEP 8:

When cutting your picture into squares, if you have a straight edge paper cutter for easier cutting.
