Decorated Lampshade

A Spotted Canary Project by Renaissance crafter

13 April 2009

Items such as lamps present a great canvas and allow you to create a one of a kind object that you can use and enjoy in your home.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Complete the artwork. Scan and print smaller versions of the artwork to use on the shade. Depending on the size of the base of your lamp, you might have pieces from the cut artwork you can use on the shade also.

STEP 2:

Measure the base of your lamp and determine how much of the paintings you can use. On the example, two paintings were used, splitting the base in half. The seam lines were covered with a strip of cork, adhered with red liner tape.

STEP 3:

Add any embellishments you would like such as the rope used on this lamp to go with the theme.

STEP 4:

Choose the remaining pieces of the artwork or the printed copies to go on the shade and decide on your layout. Punch photo corners to use at the corners of the pieces to give the look of a scrapbook shade. Fill any empty spaces with stamped images. Use strong adhesives as the lampshade will have heat coming from the light bulb.

STEP 5:

Additional detail can be added to the shade such as the eyelets and jute added to the edges.

STEP 6:

Plug in your lamp and enjoy!
