A Spotted Canary Project by CorrineMB

25 March 2009

The secret to making this fun friendship card for any size card is creating “doors” that are half the finished card width. For example, to create 5 x 7 card, divide the 5 inch width in half. You would need to score a 10 x 7 strip of cardstock 2.5 inches in from each end. This ensures each panel meets up perfectly in the middle of the card front. Use this formula to create unique gatefold cards in any size you desire! Also, make sure you have a bone folder on hand, it makes folding so much easier!

Instructions

STEP 1:

Cut white cardstock to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Score the card 2 1/8 inches in from each end. Fold each side in so that the card opens in the center.

STEP 2:

Cut a smaller piece of red cardstock and sand the edges.

STEP 3:

Cut a scalloped strip of white cardstock and punch a small hole in each scallop. Cut a skinny strip of blue cardstock. Sand and adhere to scalloped white strip. Adhere embellished strip to red cardstock.

STEP 4:

Punch a heart from blue cardstock. Sand the edges and adhere to red cardstock.

STEP 5:

Stamp greeting letters onto white cardstock, punch with rectangle punch, and adhere to the heart.

STEP 6:

Adhere the left half of the decorated pink cardstock piece to the left “door” of the card front, allowing the right half of the piece to lay un-adhered over the right “door”. Now that you’ve finished this fun friendship card, make another!
