Finger puppets are fun to easy to make! With a few scraps of paper, scissors, adhesive and a few paper punches (optional), you can create puppets to go with any theme and of any shape or size! The puppet included here is made by making a finger band that attaches to the back of the puppet and then slips over any finger on your child’s hand. Let your child try to cut the small pieces out and attach them on his/her own…but be ready to give some assistance if necessary.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Use large circle punch to punch out gray circle for body of elephant. Snip out a small piece on one side of the circle as indicated by pattern.
STEP 2:
Trace and cut out head piece and also elephant’s trunk from light gray cardstock.
STEP 3:
From dark gray cardstock, punch out a 5/8 inch circle. Cut circle in half and set pieces aside. Also trace and cut out tail and elephant’s ears from the dark gray cardstock.
STEP 4:
Add eyes and any wrinkle lines you wish to head & trunk using black marker. Attach ears to back of head piece so they stick out on each side of the head. Attach trunk to head with a small 3-D dot. Use a couple of 3-D dots to attach the head to the body of the elephant.
STEP 5:
Attach the dark gray half circles to the bottom of each leg to form the elephant’s feet. Add the tail to the body of the elephant.
STEP 6:
Cut finger band out of desired paper and form into a ring to fit your child’s finger. Attach to back of elephant.
