A Spotted Canary Project by lbenden

17 April 2009

This stamped birdhouse centerpiece is the perfect addition to your Spring or Summer décor! Swap out the stamps to make this project for fall or winter.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Cut the a 5 x 6.5 inch piece of green cardstock and adhere it to a piece of chipboard the same size using glue stick.

STEP 2:

Cut two peak panels from medium brown cardstock using template. Punch 1.5 inch circles approximately 1.25 inches down from the peak point on each panel.

STEP 3:

Cut two 5.25 x 1.5 circles from medium brown cardstock for front and back panels. Score these a half inch from the bottom and both sides. Do not score top. On front panel, punch a 1.5 inch circle in the center, approximately .25 inch from the bottom (the bottom of your circle will be at the .25 inch mark).

STEP 4:

Cut a 5.5 x 8.5 inch strip of dark brown cardstock for your roof. Score at 5.5 inches. Punch the front and back roof flaps with a cornice edge border punch. Score just the front scalloped edge at 1 inch.

STEP 5:

Cut one 12 inch long strip of white cardstock. Punch with a fence border punch. Score the non-punched edge at .25 inch. Cut this strip in half at 6 inches. Score the right side of the fence at 2.5 inches and 4.75 inches. Score the left side at .75 inch and 3 inches.

STEP 6:

Adhere your first peak to the front panel and then the back panel using red line tape. Your scored bottom should still be on the bottom. Repeat for the second peak. You will now have your house together.

STEP 7:

Cut three 2 inch squares of acetate. Tape one square inside each “window”.

STEP 8:

Stamp your images onto white cardstock. Cut them out and adhere them by each window with glue pen. Add your adhesive gems.

STEP 9:

Decide what you would like to put inside your planter. Depending on the size of your plant, you need to cut a rectangle in the back flap of the roof with your craft knife. My opening is 2.5 x 3.25 inches.

STEP 10:

Assemble your centerpiece. I suggest using red line tape for this final step. You do not want to permanently tape the roof on because then you will not be able to change your plant/flowers. You can use a few small pieces of red line tape just to hold it in place or maybe even some Velcro to complete your stamped birdhouse centerpiece.
