Have a custom motif or logo you want to show off? Create a sharp looking purse with the use of a punch needle and needle felting.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Draw with marker or transfer design to cloth. Place the cloth in the hoop, making sure it is very tight. Use the threader to thread the punch needle tool, using only up to three strands of the floss. Make sure the floss tail is free to feed into the punch needle tool. Begin punching the thread on the wrong side of the cloth in the areas desired. On the example, the underbelly and the spots of the canary were created with the punch needle tool. Continue until the front of the design looks as full as desired.
STEP 2:
Cut the cloth, cutting out the design. Place on the felt purse where desired and begin needle felting, with foam block placed inside the purse. Fill in the rest of the design and add additional accents such as the spots added to the purse.
STEP 3:
Wool roving can be added to the pull on the zipper of the purse. For additional texture, leave some tufts of the wool roving as can be seen on the canary tail.
STEP 4:
Use embroidery thread to create a chain stitch to add any additional details such as the bird nest.
