How do you enter win a Weekly Prize?
FLOCK to the Forum:
Every
Monday morning, author Joanna Campbell Slan will post a new clue in the
CAT Who Caught the Canary Mystery Contest forum. It will be a quick
hint, guiding to you locate the latest clue hidden somewhere on Spotted
Canary.
You'll have until Thursday evening to find the hidden clue and enter to win that week's prize.
Hidden clues will look like this:

How do you enter to win the Grand Prize?
GATHER Clues:
Participate in the weekly contest, or check back each Friday and we'll post that week's clue.
STUDY the Suspects, Projects & Tools:
When
you find a clue, go through the suspects, projects and tools below to
help you decipher that clue. For example, if you find a clue that says
"The tool is made of plastic", it could be either a bone folder or a
paper trimmer. If this were a real clue you would need to gather more
clues to determine which tool was used.

Official Rules:
PRIZES
One Grand Prize winner will receive $500 (retail value) in crafting products, signed copies of two Joanna Campbell Slan novels ($29.99 retail value) and the naming rights (no retail value) to a newly named character for Joanna Campbell Slan’s third book due out in 2010.
Every week for six weeks, two winners will receive a signed Joanna Campbell Slan book and EKSuccess Brands tool(s) with a combined retail value of approximately $39.99.
ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States, Washington, D.C. or Canada (excluding Quebec), eighteen (18) years of age or older before September 17, 2009. Void where prohibited by law.
The following individuals are not eligible to enter and their entries will not be considered:
- Employees of EKSuccess Brands or any of their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or any promotion, advertising, judging or public relations company doing business with any of the above, or any of their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or a member of the immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) or any individual living in the same household of such employees (whether related or not).
ENTERING THE CONTEST
From September 17, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time through October 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, go to www.spottedcanary.com (the “Website”), locate the hidden clue and click on the image of the hidden clue to enter the weekly contest. Fill in all information requested on the entry form completely. The time of entry will be determined by the time that it is received by EKSuccess Brands. There will be two (2) weekly winners. Weekly prize entries must received by 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the Thursday of the week in which you are entering.
Enter as many times as you like. All entries must be in English. Use of automated processes and devices to submit electronic entries are not permitted. EK is not responsible for any changes or effects caused by or to the entrant’s computer system as a result of submitting electronic entries.
Only entries submitted via the electronic form provided on the Website will be accepted. For your entry to be eligible, you must provide all information required on the entry form on the Website. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. Entries submitted via any other method, including but not limited to U.S. Postal Service, hand delivery, facsimile or other express delivery services, will NOT be accepted. EK is not responsible for entries that cannot be processed due to phone, network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind.
EK reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the contest or website; violates these Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner at any time during the Contest, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. By submitting your entry, you accept all Contest rules, including those not listed here that may be added at EK’s sole discretion. You agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. The Grand Prize winner agrees that he/she will sign a waiver to both EK and Joanna Campbell Slan (“Slan”) authorizing and assigning the use and rights to the newly named character for Joanna’s third book due out in 2010. EK and Slan expressly reserve the right to alter, edit, adapt, copyright, publish, transfer and/or use the name, without compensation to the Grand Prize winner. Entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the email account holder if there is any dispute.
WINNER SELECTION
Each week two winners will be selected by random drawing every Friday during the contest. Weekly winners will be contacted by email on or about one week after the weekly deadline. The Grand Prize winner will be chosen by random drawing on or about November 2, 2009. The winners will be notified on or about November 6, 2009.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE:
EK and its subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, dealers, and vendors, and these companies’ officers, directors, agents, and employees are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) entries that are lost, misdirected, unintelligible, corrupted, incomplete, late, otherwise not in compliance with these rules; (ii) any act, failure to act, delay, or error relating to the transmitting or processing of entries; (iii) telecommunications network, phone system, computer system, hardware, or software malfunctions, failure, disconnection, data loss, or other difficulties of any kind, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in the Contest, or accessing or downloading materials relating to the Contest; (iv) any conditions caused by events beyond the control of EK that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (v) any losses or damages of any kind resulting directly or indirectly from acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize awarded in the Contest; or (vi) any printing or typographical errors in any materials relating to the Contest. EK reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, terminate, or suspend this Contest if causes beyond EK’s control corrupt the administration, security, or operation of the Contest. By participating in this Contest, all entrants agree to release and hold harmless EK, its subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, dealers, and vendors, and the officers, directors, agents, and employees of all such companies from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind resulting from participation in this Contest, or acceptance, possession, or use/misuse of any prize, including without limitation, personal injuries, death, property damages, defamation, infringement of intellectual property rights, and claims based on the rights of publicity and privacy. An Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability, IRS form, W-9, W-8BEN or W-8ECI must be completed by the potential Grand Prize Winner as appropriate as well as a publicity release if legally permissible, within 10 days of notification. Disqualification and selection of an alternate Winner may result if there is noncompliance within the above time period or if the prize notification is undeliverable. EK reserves the right to substitute comparable products at its discretion. EK reserves the right to cancel this promotion at its sole discretion. All entries and winners information will be loaded onto www.spottedcanary.com at Sponsor’s discretion.
PUBLICITY
By participating in this Contest, the Grand Prize winner gives permission to EK to use his or her name, photograph, voice, biographical information and likeness, and all derivatives thereof, in any and all media, for advertising and promotional purposes, without further compensation or notice, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, including without limitation on-line, unless prohibited by law.
