Create this fun pinwheel table decoration with colorful double sided papers in and a few embellishments! I used a twist box from the Art Blanche product line. Look for cardboard boxes in your local craft store; they come in many shapes and sizes.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Cover twist box with a variety of patterned papers. Tie a piece of ribbon around the neck of the box.
STEP 2:
Put a piece of Styrofoam inside the box before gluing the flaps shut.
STEP 3:
Make pinwheels by cutting out 4 inch squares from various patterned papers. Draw lines lightly with pencil connecting opposite corners. Mark the center of the pinwheel by poking a hole through it with a paper piercer. Cut 2/3 of the way towards the center on each diagonal line. Pierce a hole through the pointed end on every other piece of the pinwheel.
STEP 4:
To create pinwheel centers, punch out small flowers from cardstock. Pierce two holes in the cardstock flowers to resemble a button. Attach a small bead to the top of each flower using a piece of paper-covered white florist wire. Add another bead behind each flower.
STEP 5:
To attach centers and complete pinwheels, bring the punched points to the center and align with the center hole. Run the wire from your center flower through these holes. Attach a larger bead to the back of the pinwheel and twist remaining wire around a dowel rod.
STEP 6:
Insert the pinwheels into the twist box "vase".
STEP 7:
Add additional stickers to the outside of the twist box to go with your theme. Adapt this birthday pinwheel table decoration for any theme just by changing the decorative papers. It would make a pretty centerpiece for a baby shower or wedding shower!
