Stamping is a great way to enhance your creative projects. There are a lot of creative stamping techniques that can be used, but sometimes when you are new to the art of stamping all of the techniques are overwhelming. Or, sometimes when you are advanced in the art of stamping you can forget the beauty that can be found in the simplicity of a basic stamped image.
Just One Stamp:
One stamp can be used in a variety of ways.
- You can use it as a focal point on a project by using it one time.
- Or you can use it to create a background by stamping it multiple times.
- You could stamp it in different colors to create a variety of patterns
- Or stamp in a row to create a border.
Second Generation Stamping:
By stamping with one color multiple times without re-inking you can show different generations of a color as the ink wears off the stamp. You can highlight this by stamping each one and matting them individually as the focal point on your project.
Using Part of the Stamp:
Another way to use your stamps is to look at it as separate parts.
- For example if your stamp has a sentiment and an image on it, consider using one piece without the other.
- A simple way to do this is to identify the part of the stamp you would like to use and apply ink directly to the stamp with a marker rather than an ink pad.
- This ink isolation technique will allow you to stamp specific parts of the stamp image rather than the entire stamp design.
Each of these stamping techniques are simple and classic ways to use your stamps. If you are new to stamping, just experiment and see what happens. And, if you have stamped for a long time maybe trying one of these ideas that you have not done in a while will bring back the simple joy that stamping can bring.
