One of my favorite gifts to give at Christmas time is food - this holiday season give your sweet treats in a decorated gift box. Whether your treats are homemade or store bought this is a wonderfully simple way to give. Grab some boxes and go decorate!
Instructions
STEP 1:
Cut plum cardstock to fit each side of your box and then adhere.
STEP 2:
Cut pattern paper and vellum to fit just inside the plum pieces so the plum will mat what you are creating next.
STEP 3:
Then stamp and heat emboss your images onto the vellum with gold.
STEP 4:
Stitch the vellum and paper together.
STEP 5:
Fold back the vellum edge to the stitching and emboss again with gold. HELPFUL TIP: Embossing on vellum is easy to do, you just have to be careful to not over heat your paper or it will burn. Vellum does burn easier than regular paper so keep your heat tool moving in a circular fashion and don’t get too close and everything will work out great!
STEP 6:
Adhere embossed pieces to the box. Embellish with gems.
STEP 7:
Fill your box.
STEP 8:
Tie the top of the box closed with ribbon and twill tape.
STEP 9:
Stamp tag with plum ink onto crème cardstock. Cut out and adhere to a piece of vellum and patterned paper.
STEP 10:
Repeat steps 4 and 5 with this piece.
STEP 11:
Punch a small hole in the tag you created and add a safety pin. Attach to the ribbon or twill tape on the box.
STEP 12:
HELPFUL TIP: After I sewed the vellum embossed piece to the pattern paper I folded back all the edges and then dipped them into embossing ink and then gold powder. I heated them and even let the heat melt the paper a little bit. You do have to be careful so you don’t get a burnt look, but the crumpled look is pretty cool!
