A Spotted Canary Project by Studio Pink

3 August 2009

Add a touch of class by crafting this unique door hanger that helps the teacher tell visitors where her students are.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Trace door hanger onto background paper and cut out.

STEP 2:

Stamp star image on the top section of the door hanger. Place a gem in the center of each star.

STEP 3:

Cut a scallop from the red dot paper and place along the top of the door hanger.

STEP 4:

Cover a piece of cardboard with the red dot paper. Adhere the covered chipboard to the back of the door hanger. Wrap it to the front, creating a pocket for chalk or for your little signs to be kept. Create sides for the pocket by adhering strips of red dot patterned paper from the back of the cardboard to the front.

STEP 5:

Spray paint with chalkboard paint a piece of cardboard the size you would like for your door hanger.

STEP 6:

Create a frame for the chalkboard by gluing popsicle sticks around it. In the corners of the frame, place buttons.

STEP 7:

Randomly stamp alphabets onto notebook paper. Create a matte for the corkboard coaster. Punch out 2 stamped photo corners and place onto coaster.

STEP 8:

Using a Dyno-maker, create the title “We Are In…” The “W” is stamped and heat embossed.

STEP 9:

Add a red gingham ribbon to the door hanger.

STEP 10:

Create signs telling where the class is. Some possible sign ideas may be: Art, Music, PE, Health, Counselor, Assembly, Lunch, or Recess. Use the notebook stamp on patterned paper to create signs. Make sure to stamp the word telling where the class is. Embellish each sign with buttons, glitter, gems, or color pencils for your desired effect.

STEP 11:

Hang sign by using a thumbtack in the corkboard.
