Digital scrapbooking offers so many creative options. You don't even need to purchase traditional 'digital elements'. This layout is created entirely with photographs, text and a few unique techniques!
Instructions
STEP 1:
Begin with a 12 x 12 new document in your photo editing software. I used Photo Shop for this project but many of the techniques should be available in most similar software packages.
STEP 2:
Size your large background photo to 12 inches tall and paste it into the right side of your document. This will leave you with a blank space along the left and a hard line at the edge of your photo. To soften that line and fill the space, add a layer mask. Then use the gradient tool to add a gradient to the layer mask. This will fill the empty left side of the document with a graduated color, and will soften the left edge of your background photo.
STEP 3:
Add a text block and select a font that matches your theme. Type your title and rotate it to match the background photo. In this case I angled my title to sit along the airplane wing. Add a drop shadow to this text layer.
STEP 4:
Duplicate the title layer and flip it upside down. Adjust the angle this new layer is rotated at so that it lines up with the bottom of your title layer. If needed, use the Skew effect (from the Transform menu) to further change the angle of your title reflection. Change the color of this layer and, if desired, add a layer mask with a gradient fade similar to the one you used for your background.
STEP 5:
Resize your remaining photos as desired and add to the layout. Rotate at various angles and add a drop shadow to each layer. Rearrange the layers to pull more important photos to the top of the "stack" if necessary.
STEP 6:
Add another new text box to the bottom of the layout and type journaling. In this case I chose the same font that I used for my title. Add a drop shadow to the journaling layer and you're done!
