Take a plain photo and jazz it up to create your own custom background for this easy 4th of July hybrid layout.
Instructions
STEP 1:
To create the background paper in Photoshop Elements 7 (or similar software): Open fireworks photo and adjust the contrast and brightness settings until you are happy with the results.
STEP 2:
Use the CROP TOOL to crop away any unwanted areas from the photo.
STEP 3:
Use the PATTERN STAMP TOOL and fill the background with a pattern. To achieve the look I have for this background paper the settings should be as follows: Brush Size: 525 pixels
Stamp: Optical Checkerboard
Opacity: 26%
Check the aligned tab
STEP 4:
When you are satisfied with the results, print on cardstock and it’s ready to use.
STEP 5:
To create the scrapbook page using the hybrid paper: Trim hybrid patterned paper and mat on black cardstock.
STEP 6:
Trim 6 wallet sized photos and adhere them to the hybrid paper as shown in the example. Trim the top left and bottom right if desired.
STEP 7:
Mat this large photo mat on the red striped patterned paper.
STEP 8:
Cut a strip from the flag paper and adhere to page, covering up the very bottom of the bottom row of photos.
STEP 9:
Add embellishment and the 4 from the Alphabet Tear Pad from the Handmade Ephemera Pack to the strip, layering to create a nice display. Be sure to add the envelope from the ephemera pack for the hidden journaling.
STEP 10:
Paint foam letters brown and adhere to page as shown.
STEP 11:
To create the hidden journaling, cut a piece of the flag paper to fit inside the envelope and use the cream colored side. Fold a ticket from the Ephemera pack and staple it to the top of the tag. Add journaling.
STEP 12:
Embellish page with stars.
