A Spotted Canary Project by Renaissance crafter

18 January 2011

Perler Beads present so many different possibilities from large creations to very small ones. Small ones include items such as a ring to wear to match that new outfit or a one of a kind fun necklace. This jewelry is quick, easy and very affordable!

Instructions

STEP 1:

Decide what type of design you want to make and then choose the appropriate pegboard. Use tweezers to place the beads on the pegs.

STEP 2:

Cover the fusible beads with the ironing paper and heat according to package instructions. The look of the beads will differ according to how long you apply the heat. Allow to cool. Either side of the creation can be used. If you do want the piece to be curved, carefully bend the fused piece after heating it and allow it to cool in that position.

STEP 3:

Depending on how much the beads melted, you may need to clear the hole in the bead to insert the wire, using an awl with adult supervision. Insert the wire on each side of the front of the “ring” and adjust the size to fit your finger. Wrap extra wire around the ring portion to secure it.

STEP 4:

Designs can be stacked and glued to create a three dimensional look or items such as glitter, hot fix crystals or crystals with holes can be added to your creation. To add the glitter, fuse the beads partially and then add small amount of glitter. Fuse the beads a little more and the glitter will become a part of the fused beads. Hot Fix Crystals can be added in the same way and crystals or beads with holes can be wired on to the creation. The wire itself can be added as a design element.

STEP 5:

Create pendants in the same manner, adding a jump ring at the top when finished. Place the jump ring on a purchased necklace or create your own.
