A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

3 November 2011

Make a beautiful paper crown fit for an opera!  Decorate the crown using decorative paper, embellishments, crystals and floral elements.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Use a decorative piece of paper from the Flora and Fauna paper pad as your crown base. Cut out a pattern similar to the picture of crown from newspaper that is 12” long and 5” tall in the center. Trace onto crown paper and cut out. Cut a 12x4 inch strip of matching paper for the back of crown. Fold this in half and glue.

STEP 2:

Add a thin line of glue on the top of the crown base and glitter with silver. Set aside to dry.

STEP 3:

Using a paper sheet with the birds on it, cut out one of the birds. Glitter part of the wings if desired. Set aside to dry.

STEP 4:

Use a scrap piece of the same paper to cut out a small crown for the bird. Brush with glue and glitter in gold. Set aside to dry.

STEP 5:

Brush your large leaf with glue and use gold glitter on it. Set aside to dry.

STEP 6:

Cut a piece of sheet music to 5” tall and length of page. Repeat so you have two. Fold the sheet music into a fan in 1/2” segments. Glue the two together at one end only. Fold together and cut a 1/2” slant off the top to give it a pointed look. Add a thin line of glue on top and glitter in gold. Set aside to dry.

STEP 7:

Bend your chenille pipe cleaner into 3 circles and twist into shape. WIre on your crystal teardrop near the bottom.

STEP 8:

Cut out a number and a music themed sentence from an old book and burn or antique the edges if desired.

STEP 9:

Use glue strip roll to glue on the trim on the bottom of the crown. Tuck in the bird and feather and use the glue strip roll to secure.

STEP 10:

Use the glue strip roll to glue on the birds crown.

STEP 11:

Use regular tape to glue the bottom of the music fan together. Glue to the top of crown in the back. Glue on the leaf and glue the chenille crystal on top of it.

STEP 12:

Use a 3D-Dot to tack on the saying and the number on the bottom area near the bird.

STEP 13:

Use the Dotto to glue the crown back to the sides of the crown. You can add staples for added strength.
