A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

23 April 2009

You'll put a flutter into someone's heart when they open this card! Be sure your circular opening is big enough for your punch art to spin freely. This card can be used for many themes and is always sure to bring a smile!

Instructions

STEP 1:

Cut cardstock to make an A2 sized card. Cut two pieces of cardstock 4.75 x 3.5 inches. One will be layered on the front of the card and the other inside the card.

STEP 2:

Punch two of the owls, turning the paper opposite ways so that the paper on the two sides will be the same when the two owls are put back to back. Use double sided tissue tape on the back side of one of the owls. Cut a piece of thread about five inches long and lay that over the tape. Adhere the owls back to back, sandwiching the thread in between. Sanding the owl will help the detail of the embossing show. Embellish the owl with rhinestones if desired. If using rhinestones, the heavier ones should be used on the belly of the owl so he will stop his spinning upright rather than hanging upside down.

STEP 3:

Using stamp positioner for alignment, stamp the message on a label or on cardstock. Layer with additional cardstock if desired.

STEP 4:

Place the front liner over the card and cut a circle in the top portion of the card for the owl. Add seam binding ribbon at the bottom of the front liner. Using the double sided tissue tape, adhere the thread across the opening, centering the owl in the opening. Adhere that liner sheet to the front and the other to the inside.

STEP 5:

Cut a circular frame to go around the opening in the card.

STEP 6:

Before placing the card in the envelope, turn the owl several times so that when it is released, it spins. Place the card in the envelope after you have finished playing with it.
