A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

27 January 2012

Whip up a bouquet filled with bright Gerbera Daisies and snappy Star Flowers – all from your favorite patterned papers!

Instructions

STEP 1:

To Create Gerber Daisy Center: Punch a hole in the center of a 3-D dot. Insert the hole of the 3-D dot onto the end of the plant stick. Remove release paper from 3-D dot. Put a small drop of hot glue on the end of the stick to secure 3-D dot. Place one confection swirl on top of the glue drop to form center. Set aside.

STEP 2:

To Create Gerber Daisy Center Petals: Select paper pattern. Punch one 2” Scallop circle. Pierce a hole in the center of the circle. With scissors make cut between each scallop. Cuts should be approximately 1/16” long. Avoid deep cuts as it will affect the integrity of petals. Slide petals up stick and secure with a drop of hot glue under center.

STEP 3:

Punch a hole in the center of another 3-D dot. Slid the 3-D dot up the plant stick. Remove release paper from 3-D dot and hot glue under center petals. Form petals into a cup shape by cupping between hands. Set aside.

STEP 4:

To Create Gerber Daisy Outer Petals: Punch one 3” scallop circle. Flip circle over and use coordinating pattern. Repeat the exact procedure used to create the center petals. Cuts for the outer petals can be 1/8” long. Slide up and hot glue under center petals. Form petals into a cup shape by cupping between hands.

STEP 5:

To Create Calyx: Punch one 2” scallop circle. Pierce a hole in the center of the circle. Slide up stick and secure under outer petals with hot glue.

STEP 6:

To Create Leaves: Punch two green cardstock retro flowers. With scissors separate the petals create a point on the ends of each petal. Glue the bottom portion of one petal to the stick. Glue a second leaf on the opposite side to hide the stick. Gently bend the top of the leaves out. Repeat procedure for another two leaves.

STEP 7:

To Create Star Flower Center: Punch a hole in the center of a 3-D dot. Insert the hole of the 3-D dot onto the end of the plant stick. Remove release paper from 3-D dot. Put a small drop of hot glue on the end of the stick to secure 3-D dot. Place one Confections small flower on top of the glue drop to form center. Set aside.

STEP 8:

To Create Star Flowers: Select paper pattern and punch two pieces from the daisy flower burst punch. Slide the first flower onto the stick through the center and secure with hot glue under center. Repeat step with the second flower but stagger the petal of the second flower to the first so all petals can be seen.

STEP 9:

To Create Leaves: Punch one green retro flower. Cut petals apart in the same manner as above. Punch a small hole at the bottom of each petal with the heavy duty punch. Slide one petal up the stick and secure in place under the star flower with hot glue. Slide another 2 to 3 leaves on the stick to form leaves. Hot glue each in place.

STEP 10:

Continue making flowers until desired amount have been created. The most efficient procedure would be to cut and punch all pieces, then assemble.
