A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

27 January 2012

Use your craft punches to create an easy but beautiful bouquet of paper posies!

Instructions

STEP 1:

To Create Posy Center: Cut a strip of brown cardstock 1/8” wide x 10” long with paper trimmer. Cut 1 free hand circle about 1/4” diameter from the same brown card.

Bouquet of Paper Posies - Step 2

STEP 2:

Using the plant stick as a rolling tool, take one end of the brown paper strip and begin rolling around the non-pointed end of the stick. Roll 1” inch of paper. Secure unrolled paper to rolled piece with hot glue to form tight portion of the center. Continue rolling the remaining strip. Before gluing end to roll release a small amount of tension from the roll to create a larger looser center. Hot glue strip end to roll.

STEP 3:

Place rolled center on top of plant stick and gently push on stick. Secure in place with a small drop of hot glue. Place hand cut circle on top of glue drop. Set center aside.

Bouquet of Paper Posies - Step 4

STEP 4:

To Create Petals: Punch card stock with the flower punch. Pierce a hole in the center of the flower with the pointed end of the plant stick. Crease each petal in half to give flower dimension. Slide petals onto plant stick through center hole and secure with hot glue under flower center.

STEP 5:

To Create Calyx: Cut 3 scalloped circles from green paper. Pierce the center of the first circle with a plant stick to create a hole. Soften the calyx by working paper between fingers. Slide the calyx up the plant stick and secure under the flower with hot glue. Finesses the flower s shape by sculpting with hands.

STEP 6:

Leaves-Cut the remaining 2 scallop circles in half to create leaves. Place one leaf about 1 1/2” under flower. Roll end of leaf around plant stick. Unroll and repeat step hot gluing in place. Glue another 2 leaves onto the plant stick leaving a 1/2” space between each leaf.

STEP 7:

Continue making flowers until desired amount has been created. The most efficient procedure would be to cut and punch all pieces then assemble.
