We are now living
in times when more families than ever are on tight budgets. The economy has affected our homes, our families,
our neighbors, our friends, and even our hobbies. Although we are feeling a pinch in our
pocketbooks, our need to create is embedded deep inside us. It is our stress reliever, our social hour,
and our passion.
As the old saying goes, “Necessity is the Mother of
invention.” I am here to share ways to
stretch our crafting budgets, locate great ideas, and create projects from
everyday household items, dollar shop finds, and thrift store treasures. Many of us can relate to the thriftiness
promoted in the homes of our parents and grandparents. If you grew up in a home where crafted items were
given as gifts to family members and friends, then you are probably observing
that many of those gifts are still used and treasured – unlike the latest video game that is soon to be thrown out because it isn’t compatible with the new
latest, greatest gaming system. Improvising,
recycling, and budgeting will make our craft dollars stretch and our creativity
soar during these challenging times. Tight
budgets can make our creative juices flow.
Join me each week
when I will be sharing crafts to make, places to go, and ways to save. “Thrifty” never sounded so fun! Our creative journey will begin with everyday
household items that we throw out. I
will share ideas for inexpensive storage for our crafting supplies and free
items that are available in most communities or online. Let’s look at ordinary things and create
something extraordinary.
I look forward to sharing my passion for
crafting while keeping within a budget! With
just a little thoughtful, sensible planning and preparation, crafting can fit
into your family budget year around.
