Dress up simple paper strip journaling with bold machine stitching and pen work in this imaginative lobster layout.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Mat white cardstock on red cardstock. Cut a strip of brown cardstock and mat over the top of the white and red, as shown in the sample.
STEP 2:
Adhere a 5 x 7 inch photograph in the center of the white cardstock. Break up the whiteness of the paper by brushing red watercolor paint around the edges of the paper.
STEP 3:
Mat two wallet sized photographs on the brown cardstock, one on the top of the page and one on the bottom. Refer to the example for spacing. Trim a page from a dictionary to the width of the wallet photos and center between the photographs. Attach the lobster on top of the dictionary page and shadow with the platinum marker.
STEP 4:
Stitch around the brown cardstock with red thread several times.
STEP 5:
Create the word “monster” and journaling strips in word processing program. Attach journaling strips underneath photograph and stitch a border with the red thread.
STEP 6:
Trim “monster” title to the width of the wallet sized photographs and mat underneath the top one. Shadow with the platinum marker.
STEP 7:
Add the date with the red textile marker.
