They sell very similar snowglobes to these at Anthropologie for a pretty penny. With some jars I had on hand, some figurines from the dollar store, and some fake snow I was able to make 3 gifts for less than 5$. I did use white pigment ink and white embossing powder to stamp/heat emboss the snowflakes to the outside of the jars, which is different from the ones sold at Anthropologie. It would be fun to use a favorite vintage ornament, pinecones, or tiny trees in lieu of the figurines. This was a test run, so maybe I'll try that later! :)
Instructions
STEP 1:
Hot glue desired objects to inside of lid, keep in mind that the jar will end up sitting upside down.
STEP 2:
Using rubber stamps and as steady a hand as possible, stamp snowflakes on out side of jar with white pigment ink. Keep in mind that the pigment ink is easily wiped off if you mess up. The glass is slick and curved, so this step may take several attempts. It did for me! Stickers would also be a good option for this step! :)
STEP 3:
Coat stamped images with white embossing powder and heat set. If you are working with canning jars, the heat setting is very safe. If you are working with jelly jars, you will want to wear eye protection & watch the glass carefully for bubbling or changes. I used some of each and didn't have a problem, but not all glass is created equal when it comes to heat.
STEP 4:
Put a little fake snow in the jar once cooled and screw lid into place and flip over. Check to make sure that your objects can still be seen & that there's not too much snow in the jar. Remove some snow if necessary.
STEP 5:
If desired tie a ribbon around jar lid for decoration. Enjoy! :)
