Make the travel time pass more quickly for your children by letting them make their own memory game and then play while you travel across the miles. Instead of making this game AHEAD of the trip, plan ahead and pre-cut a few papers so children can put this card game together while you travel.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Pre-cut papers to cover box. I used a candy box tin. Attach decorative paper around outside and lid of box using Herma adhesive tabs. If you wish, you can take extra embellishments for children use to decorate box further.
STEP 2:
Pre-cut small cards from colored cardstock so they are ready for children to decorate. I used 2 x 2 1/2 inch cards for mine. Don’t use white cardstock to make your cards as sometimes stickers can be seen through. Have children use a corner rounder on the four corners of each card.
STEP 3:
Using two sets of the SAME stickers, place stickers on each card. Try to put the stickers that match in the same position on each card.
STEP 4:
Play the game! Rules of the game: Turn all cards face down in front of you. When it is your turn, turn over two cards to try and make a match. If the cards do not match, they must be turned back over and the next player begins his/her turn. Try and remember where the cards are to aid you in making a match next time around. If the two cards that are turned up DO match, the player keeps them. The game is over when all cards have been removed from the playing surface. The one with the most cards when the game is over is the winner.
