Make inexpensive instruments out of items around your house for your children.
Instructions
STEP 1:
To create Tambourine: drill 26 holes, 2 on each side of the yard stick, approximately 3/8 inch a part along both sides.
STEP 2:
Flatten bottle caps with a hammer or by running through a personal die cutting machine. Drill one hole in each bottle cap.
STEP 3:
Cut a long piece of wire, approximately 6 feet. Attach two bottle caps per hole using the wire by following step 4 each time:
STEP 4:
Insert wire into the holes in the two bottle caps.
Now through one hole in the ruler and back down and hold the two pieces of wire together.
Wind wire around itself 2 or 3 times above the base of the bottle cap
Insert wire back up through the hole in the ruler and over to the hole that is parallel on the other side.
STEP 5:
At the end secure the wire so it does not unravel and enjoy.
STEP 6:
To create Tomato Can Drum: wash empty can in dishwasher.
STEP 7:
Drill one hole on each side of the can, approximately 1 inch from the bottom.
STEP 8:
Cover with patterned paper.
STEP 9:
Use a pencil to find the holes in the can and add ribbon; tie knots in the ribbon so they are inside the can.
STEP 10:
Use a pair of chopsticks to beat on the drum with.
STEP 11:
To create Brownie Pan Drum: drill holes on each edge of the pan; make sure they are parallel to each other so that when you string the monofilament the strings are straight.
STEP 12:
Add a piece of decorative paper to the bottom of the pan.
STEP 13:
Cut a piece of monofilament for each set holes and attach to the pan until all the holes have been strung.
