Spreading love through the home can be fun and easy with this Heart-shaped Perler Bead Tree. It allows each family member to design a very special heart to radiate joy all season long.
Instructions
STEP
1:
Using the heart shaped pegboard, create a heart design from the Perler Beads. Keep a color palette in mind when you are creating. I used light pink, white, red, and bubblegum pink. You will need 9 hearts to fill the tree. Have each family member create a heart to represent them. My 83 year-old Mother was able to make a heart using the Tweezies to help her pick up the Perler Beads.
STEP
2:
Once your heart is designed, heat a household iron at medium temperature. I prefer using a small travel size iron for fusing the Perler Beads together.
STEP
3:
Cover the pegboard and Perler Beads with ironing paper and fuse together with the iron. It is important to iron both sides of the design. If you miss a few beads then place them back on the design and reheat it. Something fun to do is to add glitter to your Perler Beads. Once the design is fused together, sprinkle glitter on it and reheat it. This will melt glitter into the Perler Beads.
STEP
4:
Make sure not to heat the Perler Beads too long. The beads should stay about the same original size. If you heat the design too long the pegboard can be damaged by the iron's heat.
STEP
5:
Poke the ribbon through the heart shape and tie to the tree. I hung one of the hearts with fishing line from the center of the tree.
STEP
6:
Create an owl using the Whootie kit. Change the Perler Beads in the kit to match the colors of your hearts. Use fishing line to tie the owl to the tree.
