A Spotted Canary Project by ekb

11 August 2009

Create this simple throw pillow that incorporates a cross stitch pattern, some sparkling jewels and a no-sew technique.

Completion time: 1 hour + time to cross stitch pattern

Instructions

STEP 1:

Complete cross stitch pattern according to package directions.

STEP 2:

Fold excess cross stitch fabric to back of piece and press flat.

STEP 3:

Glue fringe to front edges of cross stitch piece and allow to dry.

STEP 4:

Snip connector loops from jewels and stitch to piece as shown using silver thread.

STEP 5:

Cut Heat N Bond to size of cross stitch piece and apply to back according to directions.

STEP 6:

Cut square pieces of fleece 10 inches larger than size of pillow form. Iron cross stitch piece to center of one fleece square, using a pressing cloth for protection.

STEP 7:

Lay fleece squares on top of each other and at 1 inch intervals, cut 3 inch long slits along all four sides. See downloadable template. To ensure ties are all the same length and size, you may want to create a chipboard template to use as a guide. Cut and discard square corner sections.

STEP 8:

Sandwich the pillow form between both fleece layers and tie corresponding fringe pieces together in a square knot.
