A Spotted Canary Project by Kabby

26 October 2009

Create this adorable project using your child’s fingerprints and make their own family tree. You can also frame it for a creative project idea.  What a fun way to celebrate new family members or give to for the holidays.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Build on 8x8 black cardstock. Cut blue square, mat with white and adhere to black.

STEP 2:

On white cardstock, use brown ink and create several fingerprints. Ultimately you will need as many fingerprints as people in your family, but it’s good to do a few extras before washing hands.

STEP 3:

Using fine tip markers, draw on fingerprints to match family members. Color in clothes and add each person’s special features.

STEP 4:

Cut each character out and mat with various colors of cardstock. Arrange on page and attach with black photo corners.

STEP 5:

Add “My Family” title. Use as an introduction page in a scrapbook about family. Fingerprint art is so fun and easy for kids. They love to get messy, and will have a blast drawing on the fingerprints to create their own rendition of the characters in your family.
