A Spotted Canary Project by CorrineMB

20 March 2009

This fun bottle cap locket necklace is great for both boys and girls.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Take two bottle caps and remove the white foam adhesive.

STEP 2:

Cut a piece of ½" wide ribbon about 8 inches long. Fold in half and tie a knot, making a small loop above the knot and leaving two ends hanging below. Trim ends to fit inside bottle cap.

STEP 3:

Hot glue (adult step) each end into a bottle cap just under the knot, creating a “clamshell” or “locket” that will be strung onto the skinny ribbon. To ensure that the bottle caps align, adhere one side first, then “practice” with a small piece of double-stick tape to see where the other side should be glued.

STEP 4:

With a 1" circle punch, punch a photo and glue inside one of the bottle caps, covering the ribbon end. Punch a cardstock scrap, write a message, and glue inside the other bottle cap.

STEP 5:

Cut a long piece of 1/8" ribbon or hemp (about a yard).

STEP 6:

String the locket onto the ribbon or hemp, then string various beads on each side of the locket. Tie off.
