A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary Creations

22 December 2011

Donna Hanna helps you craft a crystal and brass flower barrette with your jewelry skills!

Instructions

STEP 1:

Disassemble the barrette and set aside the middle piece and the clasp. You will work with the barrette base.

STEP 2:

Cut a comfortable length of 26 gauge craft wire – avoiding kinks in the wire is more important than completing project with one length of wire.

STEP 3:

Thread one 6mm Crystal Moonlight Bicone onto wire, leaving 3 inches on one end.

STEP 4:

Fold wire around crystal and thread both ends of wire through the brass flower going from the front to the back.

STEP 5:

Pull crystal down close to the flower.

STEP 6:

Use both ends of the wire to attach flower to the “clasp” end of the barrette.

STEP 7:

Trim the short end of the wire and use chain nose pliers to secure it close to the barrette base on the top.

STEP 8:

Thread on the leaves one at a time and attach to barrette base.

STEP 9:

Thread on 4mm White Opal Crystal Bicones two at a time and wrap around barrette base.

STEP 10:

Continue adding crystals to wire and wrapping until the barrette base is completely covered.

STEP 11:

Wrap the wire around base to secure.

STEP 12:

Trim the short end of the wire and use chain nose pliers to secure it closely to the barrette base on the top.

STEP 13:

Reassemble the barrette.
