The next time you send a card to a friend or family member, send them one that will simply amaze them. Interactive cards add an extra element of fun!
What is an interactive card? It’s one that holds an element of surprise. It’s a card that involves the recipient – usually requiring some type of action. Those on the receiving end of such a card will replay opening the card again and again!
A pocket card is one of the more popular varieties of interactive cards and is very simple to construct. Begin with a piece of cardstock or heavy patterned paper that is small enough to fit on the cover or inside surface of your card base. Add adhesive to the sides and bottom of this “pocket” and adhere. A pocket is perfect for tucking in a tag with a greeting or a small token. Sewing the pocket on the card is another option and adds decorative detail to the edges.
Another type of pocket card is one in which the card itself IS the pocket. What you tuck in the pocket is up to you. Be creative! You can make your own pocket or use a library pocket as the base for this type of card.

Creating slides and pulls on your cards is another unique way to add a touch of pizzazz to your creation. Take a look at this waterfall card. This card really has the WOW factor! Once you understand the simple mechanics involved in putting it together, you’ll want to make many more!
Here’s another little card that requires pulling to uncover what’s hidden inside. Pull on the ribbon attached to one end and BOTH ends extend at the same time right before your eyes!

Creating interactive cards takes a little bit of time and thought, but imagine the delight that will come to the recipient when your creation is opened to reveal a surprise greeting inside. You’re sure to put a smile on his/her face and you can bet they’ll be showing that card off to all!
