A Spotted Canary Project by Renaissance crafter

11 November 2009

Recycle a wool sweater to make this reusable coffee cozy. Personalize your own wool coffee cozy with a decorative design or even add a monogram for a personal gift!

Instructions

STEP 1:

To felt the wool sweater, wash it in the washing machine and dry it until it has the texture of felt.

STEP 2:

Cut off the end of the sleeve, including the cuff. Place the foam block inside the sleeve and create your decoration using the wool roving and the needle felting needle.

STEP 3:

For an extra “hand hold”, roll the sweater down one roll and stitch with thread to secure it there.

STEP 4:

Use the coffee cozy as insulation on throw away cups instead of the cardboard sleeves at the coffee shop.

STEP 5:

If you are creating a cozy for a mug with a handle, you could simply cut a slit where the handle can come out or make a closure with buttons, Velcro, etc. The same concept could be used to make a wine cozy, can koozie, etc.
