This set of coasters would make a great gift or give you another place to display your artwork. It is a great project that will enable you to carry a specific theme throughout your home.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Complete your PencilWorks artwork. Scan the artwork and print a small copy to use on the top of basket or other container for coasters
STEP 2:
Determine how many coasters you can cut from your artwork and decide what parts of the artwork you want to use. Be aware of the composition of the artwork, choosing items of interest from the artwork for the coasters. Cut the artwork the same size as your cork, laminating sheets and matboard.
STEP 3:
Apply the laminating sheets to the cut artwork and layer on top of the mat board and then the cork pieces. NOTE: Be sure and use something such as the laminating sheets to protect your artwork. Also, be aware of the bottom of the coaster, that it is made of a material that will not scratch furniture.
STEP 4:
If you like, use a heavy duty corner rounder to round the corners.
STEP 5:
You can leave the layers showing, or use tape to go around the edges of your coasters. The example uses one half inch wide copper tape.
STEP 6:
Select a container for your coasters if desired. Here a basket was used for the coasters to fit into, but often you can find coaster sets at thrift stores that may include a rack you can use for your coaster set.
STEP 7:
For this basket, a piece of matboard was cut for the top of the basket, as well as artwork that had been printed and laminating sheet to fit. Rafia was added to dress up the basket.
