A Spotted Canary Project by Leslie

19 December 2011

A simply constructed felt iPad case is decorated and personalized using a beautiful punch needle design.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Complete the punch needle design according to instructions included with the kit. Trim the cottage background cloth 1/2 inch beyond design.

STEP 2:

Using pattern for case, cut out the front and back section for the case from the 12 inch squares of felt.

STEP 3:

Attach the punch needle design to the front (larger square).

STEP 4:

Lay the design flat on the front section, leaving approximately a 1 inch border plus a 1/2 inch seam allowance all around the edge.

STEP 5:

Using the sewing machine, sew flat 1/4” from the edge.

STEP 6:

Using the sewing machine and matching thread sew the decorative ribbon along the edges of punch needle design to cover the seams.

STEP 7:

With right sides facing, use sewing machine with brown thread - sew along the seams of the iPad case. Trim seams and turn inside out. Press using a damp cloth.

STEP 8:

Press flap over and attach the Velcro fasteners to underside of flap.

STEP 9:

Decorate closing using a ribbon bow and loop, stitched to the center edge of flap.

STEP 10:

Loop should be 2 inches long. Sew large decorative button 3 inches from top of case and centered from edges. Loop ribbon loop around button.
