Make a small round pillow out of a Learn-a-Craft needlepoint project. We've used a horse design but this can be adapted for any needlepoint image.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Cut the needlepoint canvas, the patterned fabric and white fabric in a 6” circle.
STEP 2:
Stack the three pieces as a sandwich, with the needlepoint in the center. The right sides of the needlepoint and the patterned fabric should face each other.
STEP 3:
Stitch around the edge of the circle, leaving a standard sea allowance. Leave a hole of about 2” at the bottom of the pillow to allow you to turn the right sides out and stuff with cotton batting.
STEP 4:
Create darts along the edge of the seam, every ½” or so. Turn the pillow so the right sides face out.
STEP 5:
Stuff with cotton batting. Add some dried lavender or other scented flowers if you plan on using it as a sachet.
STEP 6:
Use a coordinating thread color to stitch the 2” hole left for stuffing pillow closed.
STEP 7:
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Make sure you have a standard seam allowance so when you create the darts around the perimeter of the pillow you don’t cut into the seam.
