A Spotted Canary Project by Nicole

21 April 2009

Use an embroidered model to create a decorated tote bag, then embellish.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Cut off handles to brown tote bag. Replace them with ribbon handles. Continue adding the ribbon around the top edge of the bag.

STEP 2:

Iron and stitch the edge of the embroidery piece and adhere it to the center of a folded fat quarter.

STEP 3:

To create a pocket, stitch two sides of fabric together inside out, flip right side out and create the top edge with a single seam.

STEP 4:

Use remaining ribbon to wrap around the pocket you created, making a folded flap on the back side.

STEP 5:

Adhere pocket to bag.

STEP 6:

Finish with hook and loop tape to close the ribbon flap and decorate with a hemp threaded button.
