February is National Embroidery Month. To celebrate, create this fun and easy embroidered card in minutes using basic stitches.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Overall card size: 5 x 7 inches.
STEP 2:
Trim red cardstock and fold to create a card.
STEP 3:
Trim patterned paper and adhere to front of card.
STEP 4:
Cut canvas to desired size, making sure to unravel a little so there is a little fringe around each size.
STEP 5:
Create heart template from scrap paper and use a pencil to trace hearts on the center of the canvas. Use centering ruler to line them up so they are evenly spaced on the canvas.
STEP 6:
For the first heart on the left, stitch the border of the heart using the lavender thread; use a straight stitch to create a solid border. Create random dots in the center of the heart with a red thread and the French Knot.
STEP 7:
Use red thread for the center heart; use a running stitch to stitch the border and create a wavy pattern in the center using the same stitch. Use a satin stitch on a couple of the waves to create some interest.
STEP 8:
For the last heart on the right, use red thread and the straight stitch to stitch the border. Fill the center of the heart with purple x’s.
STEP 9:
Stitch canvas to front of card using sewing machine with red thread.
STEP 10:
Add a ribbon, as shown in the example.
STEP 11:
Stamp a sentiment on the inside of card.
