Showcase the artwork you create with pencil-by-number sets by making these beautiful decoupage plates to use and display in your home.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Determine the size of circle or square you will need to decoupage the plates you purchased. Cut that portion of the drawing using the circle or square cutter. For smaller plates, a frame effect can be cut using curvy shape cutters. Punches can be used to cut out shapes that can be applied for a mosaic look. Individual images from the drawing can be cut out using sharp-ended scissors. Color with colored pencils.
STEP 2:
Make sure the back of the glass plate is clean. Apply decoupage glue and sealer to the areas you will be placing your artwork. Place the artwork over the glue and smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles. Brush more glue over the artwork and allow drying.
STEP 3:
Choose the background paper to use that coordinates with the artwork. Brush on glue over the dried artwork and apply the background paper. Apply glue over the background paper, again removing bubbles or wrinkles. It might be difficult to get every little bubble out.
STEP 4:
Allow the glue on the background paper to dry. Using a craft knife, trim off any excess paper that extends past the outside rim of the plate.
STEP 5:
For a more opaque look, paint acrylic or glass paint over the background paper and allow drying. Spray with a clear sealant.
STEP 6:
For a more opaque look, paint acrylic or glass paint over the background paper and allow drying. Spray with a clear sealant.
