A Spotted Canary Project by Spotted Canary

19 March 2009

Attach a counted cross stitch design to an apron to create a one-of-a-kind gift for your favorite cook. Bon appétit! If you prefer not to sew your design and ribbon in place, you can use a washable fabric glue.

Instructions

Make a stamped cross stitch apron

STEP 1:

Trim excess fabric from around the stitched design, working three squares out from your stitching on all sides. Trim the corners at an angle.

STEP 2:

Place the stitched design on the apron in the desired position. Working just inside the edge of the fabric, machine stitch the design in place.

STEP 3:

Starting at the center top, pin the ribbon around the design, slightly overlapping the edges of the fabric. Fold the ribbon at the corners as shown. Abut the end of the ribbon with your starting point.

STEP 4:

Use a zigzag stitch to machine stitch the ribbon in place.

STEP 5:

Use another piece of ribbon to form two bow loops with a knot in the center. Tack the knot in place at the center top of the design where the ribbon ends meet.
