Fall Photo Mat

Instructions

STEP 1:

Cut a 7.5 x 9.5 inch rectangle piece of gold patterned paper. Cut a 4.5 x 6.5 inch opening in the center.

STEP 2:

Use the embossing ink to stamp the October Leaves on the gold patterned paper. Emboss the images with the gold powder then glue the paper to the picture mat.

STEP 3:

Cut a corner piece from red cardstock with sides 5 inches long and 1.25 inches wide; angle the ends. Using lipstick red ink, stamp the Leaf Border image on the corner piece and ink edges. Heat set the ink. Glue the piece to the upper left corner of the gold patterned paper.

STEP 4:

Use dark brown ink to stamp the Pumpkin Patch image three times on white cardstock. Heat set the ink. Using dark brown ink and the October Leaves set, stamp four leaves on white cardstock. Heat set the ink. Use the watercolor markers and blender pen to color the images, then cut them out. A blender pen is a great way to create a watercolor effect with markers or colored pencils.

STEP 5:

Use glue and adhesive foam circles to attach the Pumpkin Patch images to the lower right corner of the picture mat.

STEP 6:

Cut a piece of wire and thread one of the leaf images onto it. Slide the leaf to the center of the wire. Wrap each end of the wire around a pencil to form a spiral. Attach the leaf and wire to the Pumpkin Patch images.

STEP 7:

Lay four lengths of raffia side by side. Wrap them around the left side of the mat and tie a double knot on the front. Repeat to add a second raffia tie below the first one. Don’t trim the raffia ends yet.

STEP 8:

Cut three pieces of wire of varying lengths. Thread a leaf onto each piece. Wrap each piece of wire around a pencil to form a spiral. Lay the wire pieces over the lower raffia tie so that the leaf images are below the tie. Knot the raffia ends again to hold the wire pieces in place. Trim the raffia ends as desired.
