Like you, I hate cancer. And, unfortunately also like you, I can’t think of anyone I know that has not been touched by this terrible disease-- be it personally, a family member, relative or friend. It is important to be aware of all types of cancer and what is going on with our bodies, but there is one month of the year that women come together to increase awareness, to celebrate success stories, those fighting their battle and to remember and honor those who are now at peace. These breast cancer awareness ideas are valuable in October and all year round.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings about walks, races and fundraisers, opportunities to volunteer or donate everything from your time and skills to your heart for those affected. Each of these opportunities to donate is important and valuable and makes a significant difference in the lives of others.

As someone who enjoys creating there are many of us who are able to use what we make to support others, raise money and preserve the memories of those facing this battle. Some of the ways to do this are to help those in the middle of their battle with documenting their history, preserving their memories, and most importantly their bravery as they face the disease.

By organizing a crop and donating the proceeds or by auctioning off handmade items you can create significant donations to support Breast Cancer awareness. Card drives are another option for generating support. You can donate handmade cards to persons in need or you can sell the cards and donate the funds raised.

There are many ways that we can all come together to increase awareness and the funds needed to support it. The activities and events that happen in October are a reminder for each of us to be connected to this cause, to increase awareness of what is happening to others, to be an advocate for our own health, and to support in any way we can the funds needed for ongoing research to cure this terrible disease. Support the cause through your crafting, and be sure to share your breast cancer awareness ideas in the gallery.
