Recreate the rustic feel of a log cabin with craft sticks in this charming mini book.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Lightly sand book and cover with stain. Apply book binding tape to both sides of all spines of the mini album. If your book binding tape doesn’t match, just stain it. The fabric takes the stain very well and it dries very quickly. Trim scalloped edge from the front cover’s inside edge.
STEP 2:
Paint and stain craft sticks. Adhere craft sticks to chipboard using tacky tape. The craft sticks can easily be cut with a sturdy pair of scissors. Stagger the cut seams and notch the ends to give them a more “log” like look.
STEP 3:
Trim around the door opening using a craft knife. Lightly sand edges to give book a worn look.
STEP 4:
Mat photos on colored cardstock. Print journaling and titles on ivory cardstock. Cut into strips and outline with marker. Mat title strips on colored cardstock.
STEP 5:
Create the remaining title pieces using sticker letters. Outline with marker and mat on colored cardstock.
STEP 6:
Distress all photo, title and journaling pieces by running the blade of an open pair of scissors along the paper’s edge. Attach pieces to book pages using foam adhesive.
STEP 7:
Decorate cover and chimney as shown using silk flowers, moss and small stones.
STEP 8:
Add jute knots to pages as shown and add a length of jute to cover to use as a book closure.
