What candy is more Christmas than candy canes?
This sleigh is made from candy canes and “glued” together with white chocolate which ends up looking like snow so you don’t have to worry about being neat when putting this together.
Use to put homemade goodies or candy and give as a gift or make a few for a Christmas table centerpiece display. You’ll get people talking…
-I used 9 canes for the bottom panel. (You can vary the width of the basket using more) I cut them gently all the same length with a knife at the part that they start to curve and saved the curved part. I cut them instead of using them whole because the curve is not high enough in front if you use them as is.
-Melt the white chocolate over low heat and use for “mortar” to paste the canes together and let dry.
-I took 9 left over curved parts and pasted them together to make the front part of the sleigh curved. Let dry.
-Paste curved piece to front of bottom panel. Let dry.
-I used 4 more straight cut canes for each side of sleigh. Then I measured the back opening and cut the canes the right width and pasted as back panel.
-I then took a couple of the curved pieces and pasted to the front bottom as the sleigh blades.
-Then I took 2 of the curved pieces on each side (4 total on bottom) and pasted together for underneath as the back sleigh feet so that the back is
higher than the front for that down hill look.
-I then decorated as I liked. Let dry completely and fill with treats.
