A new baby brings joy and happiness, snuggles and kisses.... sleepless nights and limited time to create fancy, over the top scrapbook pages documenting every experience and happening. If you are limited on time, no worries - you can still create stunning
baby scrapbook layouts by combining your favorite supplies and a few of the following tips.
Sketch it out.
Put the focus on the photos of your new bundle of joy! I like to draw out a
basic sketch that I can
rotate and use over and over again. I generally use one sketch on several layouts, vary each look by using different pattern papers and embellishments.
In the layout above I used one of my favorite sketches. It contains three 4x6-inch photos, with only two of the photos trimmed slightly, another huge time saver.
Keep a notebook of all your favorite sketches as a “go-to” when you are tired, but still have the urge to create!
Assemble your own page kits. Separate your photos by layout, or make a
list of layouts you wish to create for future photos. Take a few minutes during nap time to gather
coordinating papers and embellishments. Store each kit in a plastic baggie; it is easy to pull out when you have time to sit down and scrapbook.
Use premade embellishments and border punches.
In my example, I used adhesive
border stickers that take only a second to apply and add quite a punch to my page! My title is a
dimensional sticker, perfect for my set of photos. There are stickers for almost any theme you can imagine and alphabet stickers are a must for quick and easy titles.
Border punches are another one of my favorite tools, allowing you to use any paper that coordinates with your project, making your options endless!
Don’t forget to journal!
Keep a
calendar or journal in a central location and write down a little something on special days. Do you have some assembled page kits? Take the time to create journaling blocks for each one and slip in your kit so every component is ready for your layout.
By the time my fourth child arrived, I had to be realistic about what I was going to get accomplished. I included a
monthly calendar with my daily notes in his scrapbook with a few layouts of special happenings throughout the month. It works perfectly with our hectic lives and everything is documented in his albums.
On the Wall:Now you have a few tips that can hopefully get you started. When you are creating all these amazing pages,
displaying your favorites is a must.

Becky created this
stunning canvas for her granddaughter Cora’s nursery by attaching her layout to a slightly larger canvas with easy-to-remove photo hanging strips; different layouts can be on display for all to enjoy. Stickers, adhesive border strips and punches - along with a variety of coordinating papers - is all it took for this fabulous piece of decor - and you can change it as you wish!
Take a few minutes each day, or
whenever time allows, to coordinate your supplies. When you are able to take a longer (and much deserved) amount of time to complete your
baby scrapbook layouts, you won’t be frustrated about how much you don’t get done! You will be amazed at what you accomplish with these few steps. You’ll be ecstatic about adding to your baby’s first scrapbook in no time!
