The bright primary colors of this paper bag book are perfect for a rough and tumble little boy. Or swap out the papers and embellishments to use this technique for any occasion!
Instructions
STEP 1:
Take 3 lunch size paper bags, lay them on top of one another each facing the opposite direction and fold in half.
STEP 2:
Lay bags back out flat. Choose paper, cut, apply adhesive and adhere to bags front and back. ***Leave one of the folds in the bag open to be made into a short pocket. The sample has this done on the last page of the book.
STEP 3:
Restack bags and make a good sharp crease in the middle.
STEP 4:
Use a 1.25 inch circle punch and punch a half circle through top layer of open slot in three bags. Turn punch over so that you can see where you are punching on your work. Align the punch so that you have the desired half circle cut out. These openings will then become large book sized pockets.
STEP 5:
Mat photos and add them and/or journaling to album pages.
STEP 6:
Add embellishments to book as shown on the sample.
STEP 7:
Punch 3 holes approximately .5 inch in and 1.5 inches apart for the “binding”. Connect book with .75 inch rings.
STEP 8:
Tie assorted ribbon to rings. By covering the paper bags before binding the book, it makes the pages very neat. The rings are a fun variation for the finding. Other options are stapling, tying ribbon and sewing.
STEP 9:
Make inserts for pockets. Measure desired size, cover chipboard with paper of your choice. Mat photos and/or add journaling to inserts. Embellish as shown.
